Nathalie GRIESBECK Enabling youth representatives from all member states to discuss all issues related to active European citizenship, the event "Youth Voice" is an excellent initiative on citizenship participation and mobilization of young people. It brings a very interesting contribution to the development of the dialogue between young people and decision makers and represents a great opportunity to make people aware of the problems of Europe and our society.

Madam Nathalie Griesbeck, MEP Moselle France General Councillor of Moselle

Mister Bertrand Delanoé, Mayor of Paris

Bertrand DELANOË The project "Youth Voice" initiated by the association TOGETHER and the Town Hall of Metz contribute to the life of the European citizenship.

The new generation grows together with the European Union. To live in the biggest democratic space in peace is a great chance the value of which we have to appreciate. We have to be especially faithful to the European spirit through working without stopping in order to deepen and share as much as possible the movement that since fifty years now brings together and unites European citizens.

The taste of discovery and sharing, the wish to get involved in the public life in order to choose our destiny town combines so many qualities that make the youth as the fore-front of the construction of European identity. This is why the meetings between youth and representatives of political and associative unions, as well as all the opportunities to learn and to exchange contribute to the construction of Europe that is close to the citizens and deserve to receive our best support. I wish to every of you excellent debates and the floor is yours!

Mister Bertrand Delanoé, Mayor of Paris

Mister Dominique Gros, Mayor of Metz

Dominique GROS The Town of Metz is very happy to cooperate with and to participate in the "European Week", organised by the association "Together" from 11 to 16th October 2009 around the topic of citizenship.

Since signing the Maastricht Treaty on the 7th February 1992, all the citizens of every country that makes part of the European Union is also a European citizen. Besides, one of the important elements of the European citizen is the Charter of the Fundamental rights that unites in the single text the fundamental rights of the European citizens in dignity, independence, equality, solidarity and justice.

The texts are without doubts important, however, I am convinced since a long time that the best way that European project and European citizenship progress passes through concrete actions and exchanges, and in particular youth exchanges, like the ones that are realised successfully by TOGETHER association.

Europe consists of a half a milliard of women and men who speak dozens of languages and who do not know about each other yet so well, despite the centuries of common history. There are arts, creativity, and human experiences of an extraordinary variety, but very often isolated from each other. Today it is time for Europeans to approach with ambition and political voluntarism the question of the wish living together.

We are succeeding it that, multiplying common projects are initiatives that help European population, and first of all to numerous young people to meet, to get acquainted, to exchange, to build and create together in order to better face the challenges of our days.

Mister President of Lorraine Region

"It is 3 years now that the Regional Council of Lorraine supports TOGETHER association that tends to promote youth projects in Europe. The youth from the region lives in Europe in their everyday life: for their leisure activities, for their studies, for their work.

Europe is a space of our regular life. Aragon told: "The word was not given to the Man, it was taken by him". So, take the floor on 13th October (and not only)! Use it! But do not forget that the Word does not mean anything if it is not an ancipation of an Action! Have a great activity everyone!"

Mister President of Lorraine Region

Madam Marie-Jo Zimmermann, Member of the Council of Moselle

Madam Marie-Jo Zimmermann, Member of the Council of Moselle

Mister Paul Helminger, Mayor of Luxembourg

monsieur Helminger The Mayor Mr. Paul Helminger and his Alderman, Mr. Xavier Bettel wish a rich and fruitful week to all the participants of the project «Youth Voice».
The meeting of 80 young people from 27 countries of Europe coming to share their ideas and good practices about active participation of young people in different countries, will allow young people to better understand how the society works, and the decision makers to enrich their decisions with the ideas of the adults of tomorrow.

Mister Paul Helminger, Mayor of Luxembourg

Madam Chantal Carraro, 1st Vice-President Advisor Municipal Commissioner of Nancy, Vie-President of Grand Nancy

chantal carraro To the cliches about young people I oppose what I see every day in the associations, schools, colleges and high schools:

boys and girls who think, who undertake, are active and participate in the dynamics and life of our city,

Trust, co-education, cooperation, participation - are according to the representatives of the City of Nancy the key words of what should be a youth policy.

To encourage and to support the individual and collective initiatives, to encourage young people to enroll in a project approach, creating a framework of experience local, national or European, are the ways to recognize their role as actors and in the city.

For every effort made to integrate young people into public life of the city there is a further step that is made towards a democracy and it is more alive and more authentic.

Madam Chantal Carraro, 1st Vice-President Advisor Municipal Commissioner of Nancy, Vie-President of Grand Nancy

Madam Vice-President of the Regional Council of Lorraine

Young people are the future of Europe, a future that we wish, built by peace and solidarity. Together is a network that organises the meetings between young Europeans, despite their origins, their social background, their culture. It is through knowing each other, the confrontation of the ideas in mutual respect, and the work organised together that the feeling of belonging to the European Union is born as well as the wish to realise the projects together (TOGETHER).

The Regional Council of Lorraine supports TOGETHER as through all their actions, the association works on flourishing European youth rich in its diversity and wishing to act together in order to build the future respectful of our humanity.

Madam Vice-President of the Regional Council of Lorraine

Madam Angelika Werthmann, MEP Austria

Angelika Werthmann I welcome and encourage the project "Youth Voice" and therefore I am very pleased to support this project with my Letter of Patronage.

In my view it is of paramount importance that young people come together and discuss political issues in a free atmosphere. Europe needs young people who value democracy and active citizenship -- values that are much needed.

I admire young people who will be ready to take up responsibilty to shape the world's future – because it is you who will be in powerful postions.

All the best to your endeavour!

Madam Angelika Werthmann, MEP Austria

Mister Emil Stoyanov, MEP Bulgaria

Emil Stoyanov I am pleased to express my warm support for this gathering of socially responsible and enthusiastic young Europeans.

As a member of the European Parliament I am eager to hear about the problems you encounter and your vision about their possible solutions. I want to assure you that I am ready to accept any creative idea you may present to the European decision-makers.

I would like to greet all the participants and especially the Bulgarian ones who only two years after my country joined the European Union participate intensely in its initiatives! I wish you a pleasant stay in Metz as well as a dynamic, interesting and productive meeting!

Mister Emil Stoyanov, MEP Bulgaria

Madam Zuzana Roithova, MEP Czech Republic

Zuzana Roithova I am honored to accord my patronage to the „Youth Voice“ project. With a joy in my heart I watch the wide range of possibilities that young people of today have thanks to the membership in the European Union.

Not only the open borders, but also the opportunities to study or work abroad are advantages, that people in the Czech Repoublic and in other European countries just dreamed about twenty years ago.

Today, we can gain new experience in any country we choose to travel to. Meeting other Europeans and sharing cultures and life stories with them is very important in the EU.

I am happy that young people are willing to be active citizens and that gatherings like „Youth Voice“ contribute very much in this field. It is important that you, young people, have the chance to express your opinion about obstacles or problems, for which you will soon take your own responsibility, and let politicians know about them. Leading a dialogue with politicians means taking a part in the creative European process.

Madam Zuzana Roithova, MEP Czech Republic

Mister I.A. Tsoukalas, MEP Greece

I.A. Tsoukalas "... first of all, allow me, with this letter, to express my support to the "Youth Voice" project, as well as to your whole effort.

Getting young people more involved in local, national and European communities and fostering active citizenship is an extremely ambitious and worthwhile project - it is important that the views of all young people are heard by policy makers. Mister Michel Fize, sociologist

Michel FIZE “It is important that young people discuss, that they can exchange and that they do it without taking anything for granted, and considering the diversity of the situations as well as aspirations. It was in this spirit that during the autumn of 1997, sitting at the table, I drew for the Ministry of Youth and Sport what is going to happen to the National Council and the Youth Depertamental Councils. We need to go further now and to let young people to be better involved in the life of the society, to have an easier approch towards the responsibilities, to build together with the other citizens the society of tomorrow.”
